TROPICAL STORM SOAKS HARFORD:
The remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole poured
record rainfall down upon Harford County on
the last day of September and first of October,
flooding streets and
basements, stranding
motorists, closing
schools early one day,
and opening them late
the next.
The
Emergency Operations
Center handled no
fewer than a half-dozen
swiftwater rescue calls,
from vehicles stalled in
high water on Route 924 to a group of people
who attempted to tube down Deer Creek during
the height of the storm. At one point there
were more than 50 county roads closed due to
flooding and fallen trees.
