to merely
decorate his
own shop for
the holiday
season,
Stephen
Formwalt has
transformed the entire
streetscape to welcome holiday shoppers.
Simply Grand Events, Stephen's floral and
wedding gallery (456 Franklin Street in
Havre de Grace) will be converted to a
Christmas Shop, beginning with an Open
House on November 7 from 11am to 5pm.
The wedding table settings and floral
displays will have been replaced with
holiday table settings, with holiday
linens to spark your imagination for home
decorating. The static displays will be
replaced with decorated trees in themes
ranging from `Victorian Christmas' in rich
burgundies and golds, or `olde worlde' with
strings of colored lights, to playful Frosty
the Snowman, and beach themed trees in
blues and whites.
"The wedding and event planning side
of my business falls off in the winter, so I
wanted to create a Christmas Wonderland.
We have hand blown glass ornaments,
country ornaments, ornaments with
local water scenes, and some unique glass
ornaments from Egypt. Some Santas, of
course, and other ornaments, some by local
artists. We'll have a few fresh greens, but
the majority of our premade centerpieces,
wreathes, and swags will be permanent and
dried arrangements so that customers can
keep them from year to year."
Stephen relocated to Havre de Grace in
2008, closing his former business,
Flowers
Extraordinaire, in Linthicum Plaza, to focus
on his passion for creating grand florals and
event planning. Around that time, he had
begun painting and, when he discovered
two unique shops next door to one another
at 454 and 456 Franklin Street, opened
Simply Grand Events and Simplicity.
Simply Grand Events provides floral
arrangements for weddings, as well as
wedding planning, and showcases a gallery
