The students at
Harford Tech
donated a large
paper-mâché cow. It's a community space and
I'm just along for the ride," says Kate a ride
that promises to continue the popularity and
success of
Broom's Bloom Farm Store.
Christopher's Train Garden
at Broom's Bloom
A special attraction at
Broom's Bloom
this
holiday season will be the large interactive
train garden display, with children's activities
and visits from Santa (on the weekends).
Ray and Kim Cooper chose
Broom's Bloom
to
commemorate their son with a Christopher's
Train Garden.
Christopher, who succumbed
to a life-long illness 2 years ago, had been
a model train enthusiast. To honor that
passion, as well as Christopher's loving spirit,
the Coopers assembled his collection of
trains, along with those donated by other
families. Kim told us "Christopher loved
coming to
Broom's Bloom
for the ice cream
and the live music on the weekends. It's the
perfect place for this. It's family-oriented and
it's an opportunity for us to give something
back to the community for all their support."
Further community support for the Train
Garden
came from
J&R Sheds,
who donated
the use of a shed, and from
Bel Air Bakery
and
Klein's,
who donated cookies for children
to decorate.
A highlight of Christopher's Train Garden is
the Polar Express train. As Kim explained,
"The
Polar
Express
(book and
movie) is
about the
magic of
believing
that there
are so
many
wonderful
things
around us, all unseen. Christopher believed
in the magic of things unseen. We should all
be grateful for what's around us." The film
will be shown at the
Farm Store
during
the holiday season; sign-up sheets will be
available at the Train Garden.
