Anderson

Place

Tollgate Road,
Bel Air
"There are those who ask `why' and those
who ask `why not?'" And Scott Anderson is
firmly in the group of those who ask `why not?'
As in, `why not' start a computer repair and
service business, when the company you work
for relocates to Michigan and you want to
keep your family in Harford County? And
then, when you're finding that teenagers
want to hang out at the store on the weekends,
playing video games, why not accommodate
them, providing a safe place for them to
entertain themselves? And as your business
expands, why not move to a larger space?
And turn that space into the ultimate party
room and gaming center, with a 92" wide hi-def
1080i projection screen, six 32" TVs, pool
tables, foosball, air hockey, Wii and Xbox.
All of which Scott has accomplished in a little
over five years. From a stand at the
Edgewood
Flea Market,
selling repaired and refurbished
computer parts, Scott opened
The Computer
Market Place,
on Tollgate Road, in 2004,
offering computer repair and service in a
friendly low-pressure atmosphere that quickly
was voted Harford County's #1 computer
service store. By 2007, the 1,200 sq. ft. store
had become too small.
The Computer Market
Place
then moved down the street, to 100-B
N. Tollgate Road (behind the
Jiffy Lube
opposite
Harford Mall
).
In addition to a larger showroom for computer
equipment and accessories, and a much larger
"clean" room for repairs and service, the new
4,000 sf space includes a game room, with
snack bar, and
The Garage. The Garage
is,
perhaps, the ultimate "man cave" for family
entertainment. According to Scott, "there's a
real shortage of recreational facilities for teen
and family entertainment. This is a place
where families can enjoy all the state of the
art entertainment from the big screen tvs,
to pool tables, Wii, and more."
The Garage
is being booked for parties of all
types: birthday parties for kids and adults,
tailgate parties, business conferences and
networking receptions. Arrangements with
local restaurants for catering and a large
commercial grill for food prep complete the
ambiance and allow you to "bring the party
to our backyard."
Guests at a recent party that combined an 8
year old's birthday celebration with a family
reunion, held during a Raven's game, raved
about the concept. As one guest put it,
"There are just so many times you can go to
Chuck E. Cheese.
This way, you don't just
drop the kids off, the parents can stay and be
entertained and visit with the other adults."
Scott is open to any suggestions for use of the
space. When asked if a birthday party could
include a Moon Bounce, Scott's response was
"why not?!" When asked if a football party
could include a keg or two, Scott's response was
"why not?!" and he obtained confirmation from
the Liquor Board that private parties can
BYOB to
The Garage.
If you're planning a party this holiday season,
or you want an ultimate tailgating party
without leaving Harford County, or you'd just
like to have a great afternoon hanging out,
consider
The Garage
at
GameNet
and ask
yourself: WHY NOT?!
